Another example would be BT, who have a around £3 billion in bonds/debts, as well as nearly $5 billion and €3.5 billion in other bonds and debts.

You can't be "mostly" a parent company you either are or you aren't and Newscorp are not Skys parent company. Another member of Murdochs empire left the Sky board of directors this week. So their influence is slowly becoming less and less.
