No, you're not.

You can enter any IP address you want into a ping monitor. Changing your VM IP has no bearing whatsoever on the number of ping monitors you can set up.

Correlation does not imply causation. Logic, and knowledge of how the cable system works however, does. Your CPE knows nothing of any IP address, and cannot even ask for one until after it has ranged and locked its channels, connected to a specific port, and negotiated it's configuration file.

So quite politely, you are clueless.
