Actually I'm correct on both counts, the ping monitor is simply you log into thinkbroadband set up a ping monitor then log out. Change your IP log back in and set up a second ping meter. You may have to wait a day or 2 for your old ip to be picked up by another CPE.
Don't tell me you can't do it as I have done it.

A different MAC address will be asigned a new IP so if you have your own router you go in to setting and change 1 digit of the MAC address. When you reboot you'll pick up a new IP.
Its an almost infinite way of getting a new IP.(well, within your local IP pool)
