That's the WBC who's current welterweight champion has a prison sentence for domestic violence.

This has nothing to do with bringing the sport into disrepute and everything to do with the BBBoC trying to ensure that they can keep a monopoly on fights fought in this country. If people can fight on UK soil without a license from the BBBoC then people may look elsewhere in Europe for cheaper licensing.

Sadly for the BBBoC they don't have a case, European law means that they can say what they like, but they can't carry it out.

You're joking right?
As much as I dislike Barton he did pretty much nothing last week. "Assaulted 3 players", oh come off it. His sending off was borderline, Tevez got away with "assaulting" (if we're going to throw that word around for just touching people these days) Barton first, Barton barely elbowed him. Sure, he kicked a guy in the leg, I'll give you a minor assault for that one, and then mouthed off a bit and squared up to everyone he could. It was hardly like he went on a spree of throwing punches. Yeah he's a sorry excuse for a human, but saying that was worse than what happened between Haye and Chisora?
Where multiple punches were thrown, one of them involving a bottle, where Haye hit his own trainer over the head with a tripod when attempting to smack Chisora with it? Come on.

I'm sorry but you're a complete idiot if you think what Barton did is anything in comparison to an actual fight kicking off where one of the people got hit with a bottle, and someone else got their head cut open by a tripod.
