IMO that is the way forward. I have used many PVRs over the last couple of years and one thing that Sky+HD does very well is record. I know on here people will say that Sky+HD is inferior but the fact is that it is very simple to use and probably has the best EPG available to any PVR making recordings very reliable. Using companion apps would mean it stays as simple as you want but also you can use apps for advanced features.

That is an issue. His bundle comes with a disclaimer to warn the user of this.
