correct. My EULA states that the software is licenced for upto 2 processors so if i shove a quad core in, it will require re licensing
I think this is the key phrase in licensing

Basically i understand that to mean you never own the software ,you only purchase a licence to use the software therefore any like for like copy of that software can be used i.e windows 7 hp can be reinstalled with another copy of windows 7 hp and not Ultimate ,as long as it is a genuine copy of windows 7
