Uriah Heep was the first beaten with half a mile to run, but no horse got close enough to mount a challenge as the 11-10 favourite galloped all the way to the line to win by 11 lengths. Oxford Charley was second and Kingsdesire third.

The evens favourite pulled clear in the final furlong to win by four lengths from Vivacious Vivienne, with newcomer Calico Cat third.
Brown Panther was a major disappointment for his breeder and co-owner, Manchester United footballer Michael Owen. He was last of the four runners after making a lot of the running in the hands of Kieren Fallon, weakening rapidly after being tightened up by Vivacious Vivienne when passed.

The Andre Fabre-trained son of Pivotal didn't make his debut until March when returning a beaten favourite at this track, a fate he was to suffer next time out at Longchamp as well.
However, he made it third time lucky at Longchamp over 10 furlongs at the end of April and overcame traffic problems, barging past the previously unbeaten leader Xanadu who was nearly brought down, to take another rung up the ladder over this furlong shorter trip with a short neck success from Sofast.
