To be honest reading through the postings from VM actual customers, the main criticism seems to be that virgin media have said very little about how they will cover the olympics and its april now so not much time left,the main problem with VM is how they interact with customers which for a communications company is very poor to say the least,and is their main let down as far as i am concerned.

Of course you have to be able to get sky to do as you suggest many cannot so not always that simple.
