OFCOM really should have looked into the 0800 issue about 5 years ago. had they done some planning they could have tied it into the 03 system. ie anyone who pays for an 0800 number gets the equivalent 03 number as well. (ie 0800 123456 would also bee accessable via 0300 123456, 0808 123456 0308 123456 and 0500 (i think theres still some about) 0350 123456 at TRUE local rate (as will all 03's)) that way its the user that pays the extra connection cost without beeing fleeced as they are right now. Though i suspect its too late for that now
