Utter rubbish,in the event of a strike it is totally justifiable and entirely sensible to carry a jerrycan of petrol

It isn'really going to help matters much if you just have one jerry can of fuel is it?
well my 2.5 litre tranny van can do 20-25 miles on one so yes it will do a lot of good

And as Maude didn't elaborate and warn people to only store a maximum of 10 litres, then he is responsible for the likes of the woman seen at a local Tesco garage a couple of days ago.
yes he did , “As and when it makes sense, a bit of extra fuel in a jerry can is a sensible precaution to take.”

note the word BIT meaning small amount and CAN singular to cans meaning 1 only ,of course if a person only has the intelligence of bean sprout then they wouldn't understand that .

Now you can't seriously tell me that you think this was regular practice for her, and that she wasn't doing it because of advice given by the government.
No it probably wasn't ,unless she has a ride on lawn mower or some such tool or she has the inteligence of a bean sprout ,either way it's not the governments fault .Should probably mention i filled up 7 jerry cans of unleaded last week on the garage forcourt

Unfortunately that is exactly the way it is with many people. And these people need to be taken into account when advice is given out. It may sound patronisingfor most people, but the advice needs to be put in place to cover all levels of inteligence.
So what's maude supposed to do ?say something like "carry a spare can of petrol in the event of a strike ,but for all you thickos out there don't get too much and don't get it anywhere near a flame".

The majority of people are adults and should be treated as such ,we don't need or want the government or the fire service holding our hands throughout life .Some people do though and maybe it would be better for the gene pool if they didn't breed
