Re: Spartacus: Vengeance

Am watching this in the UK timeline on Sky. It just doesn't have the impact of the previous main and prequel series. I don't think that is down to the unfortunate change of actor in the Spartacus role, even though he doesn't have the same presence. There is still plenty of the adult scenes and excessive gore, indeed this week's UK episode found a whole new range of specially bloodthirsty effects. More it's because the setting has changed from the close confines of arena and ludus, to a far more spread out and disconnected environment and we've lost some of the apparent intrigue and scheming of the Romans who were trying to clamber over anyone, slave or Roman, in their desperation to be on top.
