Indeed. BT are pro-actively replacing modems where the old(er) revisions are known to sometimes overheat. A more reliable (and less prone to overheating) modem is not a bad thing, and hey, they've admitted responsibility and are doing it FOC to you with no loss of service (straight up engineer swap).
The wording of the letter is a bit.. colourful... but they're taking their service seriously and doing something about it
before you complain, which not all providers would.
