On a side note for those that are cancelling their landlines. I hope you're not intending on applying for credit eg. Store credit, loans etc. As sometimes you need to provide a permanent contact number. Well, I know it was a big no no when I used to sell credit a few years ago and if anything it's a lot tighter now

Which is why most applications now have the option of either number because many people are now only using mobiles as they prefer not to have a landline so the rules had to change.
They now ask for other proof of id such as utility bills and photo id such a driving licenses and passports.
