Hi Chris, just come onto this forum and been reading some back stuff as well as this newer stuff and I'd just like to point out that you continually state that signal strength is the quality of the conections between the LNB and the set top box. This is incorrect as yes you must have 100% connections but signal stregth is the measure of the signal being recieved at the LNB.
This can be proven if you go to different channels and read the readings there. In my case this is confirmed in my set up done by a qualified installer.I have a perfectly aligned dish and quality connection with a quad LNB by the best. This is connected to an Humax Foxsat PVR, now on the usual channels from BBC and ITV etc. I get 100% signal strength but go to some of the lesser channels and I get 80% & 90%. Quality is a measure of the signal being sent and can vary,even though strength is 100% due to several reasons in the chain and can vary even as you sit and watch the signal bar.
These facts can be confirmed simply be going on to any specialist web page.
