Christian Kist battled back from the brink to beat Ted Hankey 6-5 and reach the BDO World Championship final.

Kist began the stronger, taking a 2-1 lead before Hankey found his rhythm and stormed into lead 5-3 at the Lakeside.

But when Hankey narrowly missed hitting the bull for the match at 5-4, Kist seized the opportunity and levelled the match at 5-5.

Hankey then lost his concentration as he appeared to complain about a draft, leaving Kist to coast to victory

Dutchman Kist will face either 2009 Lakeside finalist Tony O'Shea or Wesley Harms in his first World Championship final.

Hankey, the number 15 seed who has won the tournament on two previous occasions, looked to have the match won when he clinched the eighth set to lead 5-3.

Kist won the next set to reduce the deficit to 5-4 but Hankey had a chance to win the match by hitting the bull, only for his dart to land the wrong side of the wire.

The Dutchman stole the set to level the match before completing an unlikely victory as Hankey appeared to give up after he appeared to say that a draft had put him off.
