Was she stupid to say what she did - yes, imho.

Was there an over-reaction to it - also yes, imho (just like I think there is often an over-reaction in many areas of our society to many things, when we should be saying "was this person malicious or just being ill-advised/stupid).
I think it's a clue as to her true feelings about racial equality.Instead of working from the premise that everybody is equal and addressing inequality as she finds it she assumes that inequality is there simply because white people are involved and that attitude will always find racism and inequality even when it doesn't exist and can have the opposite effect of creating racism and inequality
