I also had the same issue and found great delight in removing this last poxy remnant of BT from my property. My removal was for the same reason as yours replacement of my soffits and fascia boards as the other option was cutting around the connection.

I have no intention of a return to BT so glad to see the end of them, the cable was removed some time over the following months and no one knocked at my door.
