That option was always open to them. The BBC was broadcasting HD by satellite and cable long before any capacity became available on Freeview. The limitations of Freeview HD has never been the issue and never will be. If the BBC wanted, and had the resources, to broadcast a third, fourth, fifth or a zillionth channel in HD there was never anything stopping them.
Unfortunately, there is something stopping them. It's called money, or rather, the lack of it. The whole reason they are dropping BBC HD in favour of BBC2HD is because it is cheaper to run a full simulcast than it is to run an entirely separate channel.
If you read around the subject you claim to be so interested in, rather than wasting your time daydreaming, fantasising and starting multiple pointless polls about it, you might have understood this. The information was, after all, published a good few weeks ago by the BBC. It received lots of national press coverage and was discussed at length on this forum.
