The 600Mbit specification simply means that it can transmit on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz at the same time. Basically:

300Mbit on 2.4Ghz
300Mbit on 5Ghz
=600Mbit total bandwidth

Since a device can only connect to 2.4Ghz OR 5Ghz it's a fair comparison.
