PS3 gaming router help!

Hi im new to this forum so apollogies in advance if im posting in the wrong section.

I live in a rural location and im sick of slow/laggy internet when gaming. i have a Edimax wire/wireless ADSL 2+ router 10/100 switch connected into my BT NTE5 master socket 10m away in my loft.

My 60gb PS3 is connected to it via the ethernet cable included with the playstation. my ISP is talk talk and ive just upgraded to their llu plus package which goes live in my area on 22/12/12.

I'm currently recieving between 1.2-1.3 download speed and 1-2 upload (ive ran multiple speed tests via u-switch.com) and i'm still getting crippling lag when playing online e.g COD: MW3 and i was wondering if any of you technically minded people could help me?

I'm hoping to recieve faster speeds from my ISP when my new package goes live but i was wondering if:

A new wireless N router with 300mbps or 600mbps would help.

A BT i-plate/broadband accelerator would be beneficial?

A hi speed modem cable and a better ethernet cable would be better?

all help appreciated in advance.
