Several channels repeat programmes throughout the day but if you are only in a position to view TV in the evening, for example, that only counts as one airing.
One could argue that it makes more sense for the carrier (e.g. VM, Sky etc.) to store most programmes for a short period (e.g. 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days) rather than multiple customers duplicating the process by recording them on their PVR or TiVo boxes. The latter facilities are better suited to longer-term storage of programmes, series, sporting events or movies. Some on here have suggested that all TV should be On Demand and that there is no future in linear programming but that may be taking things too far, at least for now.
Given VM's emphasis on their TiVo and broadband technologies it's surprising that we haven't heard more about IPTV this year.
