Google says that is a standard Sky+HD remote, even if it did come from Maplins. Sorry, you won't be able to control VM boxes with it.

If you want to use a generic remote, you'd need a brand such as One For All.

Often older generic remotes won't have Virgin Media codes listed, but may list codes for Pace or NTL boxes that will work.
