Yes, but you can have a Series Link to the same show on any channel it appears on. About five of my Series Links are set to record on two or three channels so I can catch old episodes and newer ones as they air. For example, if I had Top Gear in the list I would have two Series Links: one on Dave to catch old episodes and another on BBC HD to catch new ones.

You can use WishLists to record any instance of a show (or, for example, anything featuring a certain actor) across channels. A great feature if you know a show will be airing in a few months but TiVo doesn't have it in the database yet.

Sounds like you need to set the Series Link to record New & Reruns so you don't miss anything. Also, if you want to prioritise a show above all others, press the HOME button on the remote, then press 1 to bring up the Manage My Series Links page. Then you can scroll down to the show in question, press right and then move it up and down the list.
