It's absolutely pathetic that we need to provide via the tax payer ,money to teach young mums how to look after their children .It used to be that the parents and grandparents took care of that but since a lot of the parents are just as bad i suppose something has to done by the state .It will be interesting to see who is given the job of teaching these kids how to be a parent ,progressive social workers with no children or will they ask parents with plenty of experience to take the reigns
Parentcraft lessons USED to be taught in schools(to girls of course as it was pre sex equality days). However with the enlarged timetable and emphasis on technical education parentcraft vanished as did home economics.Personally I would like to see it return to the timetable if only as part of the Personal and Social Development lessons and as an addon to sex education.
