Internal card reader causes long POST

Hi there.

I built a PC for my Dad and it always had this annoying problem of taking about a minute for the system to report the amount of RAM and then move onto the drive detection.

Finally, I set aside some time to figure out what was up and discovered the problem goes away when the Akasa internal card reader is disconnected. I have tried connecting it to another header but it still does it.

The motherboard is a Gigbayte P55UD3 I think. Can I change anything in BIOS to stop the detection or should I buy another reader? Also, is it likely that is a faulty unit or should I replace with a totally different one?

Thanks a lot.
