The deals will have reduced the cost of a basket of goods somewhere else. Seriously, you're behaving like a politician picking on the specific bit that proves your point. Inevitably you'll be able to find combinations of foods that have gone up in price as a result of removing some offers and replacing them with lower standard pricing.
You'll have saved 10p back, for example, on the cost of apples even if you consider the discount derisory.
Someone who doesn't but the 3 to get the deal will benefit from the lower prices. You'll probably have saved the money back on some other products within the shop. Can't please everyone all the time.
