btw, can I ask where you got your stats from, please?

UKTV's planned channels are three HD versions of existing SD channels, and will see Watch HD and Dave HD launch in 2011 and Alibi HD in 2012. The new HD brands will likely follow similar strategies to their parent channels, with Watch HD and Alibi HD launching on pay TV platforms in basic HD packages and Dave HD launching FTA. Freeview, which provides UKTV with its greatest channel reach, is not a particularly attractive platform for HD rollout, forecast to support only 424,000 HD homes by end of year 2011. To reach a significant audience therefore, any new FTA HD channels must launch on satellite and hit the 1m Freesat HD subscribers and 4.5m Sky HD subscribers and Virgin have about 1.8 million HD subscribers as well.
