Different people have different priorities/requirements/likes - what's so strange about that?
I understand that others may be willing to pay for extra HD - I am not.
btw, if I was using TiVo only for it's EPG, you would have a point - as I'm not, you haven't.... 
I consider the benefits and facilities outweigh a few bugs/features.
