Back to the question of performance, not that it's relevant anymore, but hyperthreading gives maybe a 10-15% performance boost under good conditions, whereas the newer architecture of the Core 2 will give better performance pretty much all the time. I should add that the Xeon sounds like it's Pentium 4 generation...
