Re: Policewoman Jailed For Not Arresting Burglar

It seems Sheriff Richard Clark isn't quite as harsh with non-cops who come up in front of him.

Quote:
Ordering Horribine to carry out 80 hours of community service Sheriff Richard Clark said: “You appear as a first offender in the court.

“But nevertheless you appear on a charge where you have breached a position of trust which the court treats very seriously.

“Having regards to the terms of your report I am satisfied it is a case where custody could have been imposed.

“However, I am willing to deal with it by means of community service. This has been imposed as a direct alternative to imprisonment.”
Or for disqualified drivers who crash into Police cars.

Quote:
A DISQUALIFIED driver who smashed into a police car after being clocked speeding at 60mph in Fauldhouse Main Street has narrowly avoided jail.

Banning him from the roads for five years, ordering him to carry out 200 hours of community service and placing him on probation for 30 months, Sheriff Richard Clark told Docherty: “As it has been very clearly said on your behalf the offences which are in front of the court are such which would normally lead to the imposition of a custodial sentence.
But hey if a cop does something then lock her up and throw away the key.
