Of course he did, he has stated to friends in France that he wanted to go to United or to Spain so the only reason he has accepted his third choice is the money, as is the case with virtually all of the Man City signings of the past few years.
When they start to win things on a regular basis which they surely will if the Arabs don't pull the plug then that might change but anyone who thinks that any player signed by City in recent times is there for the love of the club is seriously deluded. I would have agreed with you last year, but they're now in the champions league and are probably Uniteds biggest challenge for the title this season. Theres no reason why top players would not want to join them now. They certainly have a better chance of winning things than Arsenal do, thats for sure.
