Took our youngest to have an MRI brain scan yesterday. Due to his various problems and not understanding what was being done and why, giving him the general anaesthetic proved to be the traumatic experience we'd dreaded as we had to hold him down whilst the mask was held to face and we waited for the gas to put him out. He's incredibly strong and was screaming and struggling for what seemed like an age before he finally succumbed and went off to sleep with us feeling awful for putting him through so much stress and fear. It was a few hours before we were able to get him home and he was understandably grumpy and subdued for the rest of the day whilst we were preoccupied with worrying about any possible adverse reaction to events.
This morning, however, we were woken as usual by his happy voice and smiling face - there's really no better alarm call in the world I can tell you! All may not be forgotten but we've clearly been forgiven.....
