I'm an XL landline user - and recently received notification that if I took on a VM Mobile - they would deduct the £8.00 I pay per month for this - and instead pay £7.32 (in the case of the Blackberry Curve 8250) with a free handset on a 24 month contract. So does that mean in fact I would get the handset free - and the call plan - and save 68p
Further - could I sell the handset if I didn't want it - and use the SIM in another phone which was unlocked?
Am I missing something here
Thanks!

Can't see why not?
I had a contract with Orange for a Samsung Jet, hated it.
I then bought a phone off eBay (Galaxy S) that was unlocked, inserted my SIM and today I am still using the Galaxy S with no problems.
Instead of selling the phone I gave it to my dad instead.
Your contract in the end pays for the phone anyway, so Virgin Mobile would not be unhappy with such happenings.
