Quite often with my V+ box I'd put something on in the background (such as a music channel or some other background noise) while I was waiting for the live event (usually some live sports on ESPN America) to start via an auto-tune reminder. And before one of the usual suspects chimes in saying that a recording would do that, you can't guarantee that the active tuner will be the one that will be used for the programme you want to watch live so user interaction a nd clock-watching is still required.
