Ours, not yours. Ignition knows far more about it than me, but the short story is some areas are stuck on amps and diplex filters capped at 30Mhz upstream where 50-80Mhz are required for full DOCSIS 2/3 upstreams. Amps and filters all need to be replaced to accomodate the higher frequencies without which there is not enough capacity for improved upstreams. Some lines and cables are also in poor condition and need replacing. Finally, several homes or even a whole street share one drop from the cab rather than one per property so juggling tolerances can get a bit messy.

Good to see VM finally investing in the network with the mass overhaul, hopefully the above-ground cabs will improve serviceability and all-new equipment will put us in a better position for future upgrades, rather than being another excuse to delay network maintenance because the equipment is newer...
