Re: What music are you listening to?
Just lately, the soundtrack to Joss Whedon's Serenity. That ol' boat was never given her own theme in the all-too-short life of Firefly, but in the Big Damn Movie, as us Browncoats are prone to callin' it, she was, and what a theme it is - sad and uplifting at the same time. I love strings.
River's theme is haunting, odd, broken, much as she was, but beautiful, too. It was played using an unusual (square) piano which was a bit out of tune, but you can't tell and it doesn't matter.
My favourite track is "Funeral/Rebuilding Serenity", which covers the funeral for Wash, Book and Mr. Universe, and various stages in Serenity's rebuilding - as well as Simon and Kaylee finally gettin' it on! Can't be a Browncoat anywhere in the 'verse didn't cheer on seein' that!
(And laugh as River, who is of course Simon's sister, peeks in on them from above!)
David Newman is a master of his craft, almost on a par with John Williams. He created a perfect score for the BDM.
Can't stop the signal!
