the OP is saying that their broadband speed has changed from 300mbps to 54mbps, this is the wireless link speed, i.e. the internal speed that the laptop connects to the router. This will stop the OP receiving the full 50mb over wireless

The area utilisation is whats affecting the speeds of pages loading, and until thats fixed there will still be problems, however they can still change their LAN side speed by configuring the wireless adapter, but that wont make a difference to WAN side speeds
