Maybe I didn't make myself clear in the original post. Where this TiVo feature really excels is that if you are in delayed TV where you have previously paused the channel or where you have rewound a buffered channel you can pause play at any point and go straight to any of the TiVo menu options where you have full functionality. When you are finished checking or making selections just press TV and your paused programme is available to resume play.
I have had many PVR/DVR models over the years and none allowed you to pause delayed TV and gain access to all the menu functions. You would get a message to exit delayed TV. I hope this makes it clearer.
