I would think it's more along the lines of sending off a repair, where you print off shipping labels to send off your xbox and on receipt they ship the new console to you. Since the email asks you to
"start a repair request" 
So a week of no xbox (the usual turn around) which is why they're also giving out a 12 month live gold sub (they usually send 1 month subs for warranty repairs/replacements)
