Let's look at it simplistically.
A constables pay after 10years service is around £36,500 not including overtime or other allowances.
if we use that figure.
11% of that = £4015.
x 30 years = £120,450.
If you have 30 years service youn are entitled to 2/3rd your final salary per annum which would be: £24,300 per annum.
Now if the constable joined aged 20, and retired at 50 and lived a healthy happy live to around say 80? not unreasonable.
His total pension payout would be: £730,000.
Minus his massive 11% contribution of £120,450 = tax payer liability of £609,550. approx 5x you contributions.
So don't tell me to jog on.
Not as demanding as some officers no. possibly comparable to some officers.
But them again I live in a world were I can lose my job through redundancy, I have a family and a large mortgage and I don't have the security blanket of not being able to be made redundant.
You don't have that stress do you?
I not moaning, the T&Cs of police are what they are and good luck to them, it's the moaning police I object to.
The outrage of the suggestion that they may give a few hours a week back, whilst they're happily earning 2/3 of their final salary guaranteed. oh the outrage.
