If you desperately need a reminder that the news is on at 6 then there is something wrong :P its on that time everyday lol. However you could always set an alarm or calender reminder on your mobile phone?
So what about shows that have live phone-ins for competitions, voting or shopping? Phone lines often close after the program has finished.

I've never used reminders, ever. But it doesn't take much imagination to see how useful they can be to a lot of people.
