The hard drive never turns off? Are you serious? That can't be right I don't believe they would be so silly as to not allow it to spin down. Surely? I don't want to pay for yet another HDD to constantly spin away all night, got enough of those in the house in various computers and systems as is. I would put money on it keeping me up at night if it doesn't spin down. I am a very light sleeper and everything at night - as other posters have said - becomes very apparent for me.

Crikey, is there anything right with TIVO at the moment? I have to say reading the threads about it I'm a bit dissapointed it looks to b rushed and lacking in stability and features. Half of the reason to get it feature wise is currently problematic, menu issues, stability issues, can't archive to DVD in the background anymore which was useful to play kids programs via scart to other rooms whilst watching other things, an apparent HDD that won't spin down, no interactive services, no Pay per view stuff. Someone convince me it's worth it?
