It’s a fact Hotpoint have cracked N3, though not on purpose. This is how.

As some of you may know (check my profile) I repair washing machines as well as other equipment. I was at a friends house last week and he had a dodgy stb which had gone off when N3 had kicked in. With him not having an aerial he was still using it to get the 5 main channels and a few others.

Any way that day I had repaired a Hotpoint washing machine, this involved replacing the power board and reprogramming it. To reprogram the board you use a card reader and a smart card just like the smart card in your virgin box. Once you’ve used the card you can’t use it again.

He told me he was going to get an aerial fitted so at least he could get the free view channels and throw the box out .

I said for a laugh “Why don’t we try this Hotpoint smart card in it?"

He said “why not, it’s going in the bin soon.”

I popped the card in, he did a rescan, when it loaded up he flicked through the channels and they came on, all except the premium ones. I was gob smacked!

Then I had another thought, dashed out to the van and looked in the box where I throw faulty parts in, and found a used smart card for a Hotpoint washer /dryer.

I put that in the box, not only did we get all the channels we got the premium ones as well .

I wont tell which model of machines the smart cards were from as I know getting cable channels for free is is not allowed on this forum. I only pass on this information so Virgin media can look into ways of preventing this hack.
