Which iPhone?
The iPhone 4 & iPad 2 both support HSDPA & HSUPA ("3.5G") as well as normal 3G. I
think the iPhone 3GS just had HSDPA & 3G, while the iPhone 3G was just 3G.
So, if you have an older iPhone, that could be the reason.
However, I think it's quite likely to be the network. It could well be that, in your area, Three supports HSDPA/HSUPA while Vodafone only supports bog-standard 3G.
