How likely is this to happen?
Don't how big the effect will be but it is likely that jobs will be lost by businesses choosing not to invest in the North Sea. Last I heard a lot of the companies trying to extract oil and gas aren't the big players. The increase in the supplemental tax of more than fifty percent will certainly force firms to re-evaluate investment decisions and also to consider the possibility of the tax rate going up if oil prices rise further.
