The only way I could get it to do what I wanted was to record both programmes to "force" the tuners to be where I wanted them.
This still seems to be the case with three tuners instead of two.
Is there a way of assigning another tuner to be on a particular channel without actually recording that channel?

You can manually assign the tuners to the channels you want.
Press Info and select the bottom image of the 3 record icons, from there select one of the tuners then change the channel.
Then repeat for the other tuners, then its a case of changing the channel either directly inputting the number or using that same method and it should still keep the buffer for the channel so you can rewind it
