yes four shifts at 8 hours. With 3 on 1 shift off.
In the end lot of the workers became ill through over working my brother in law too simply you cant expect 12 hour shifts in punishing job.
The company had more errors too as tiredness crept in due to the shift changes.
My brother in law said he was effectively doing three man jobs for little more pay. All because profits was put before safety.
I would not be suprised this happened throughout the country as firms moved to a system which is dangerous.
Infact they still expected them to work overtime if your relief failed to turn up they expected them to stay at least 6 hours he did over the years 18 hour shifts. With the plant a 24 hour 365 day operation shutting down cost ing millions the shift system and staff cuts was too much. The union was toothless to help them.
The expected to drive home afterward with company not providing transport home or work the next shift. The company for chemical plant was disgusting how it operated.
There was a case in lincoln where an acident happened due to 12 hour shifts where the person fell asleep at the wheel. Killed someone its ludicous issue.
So there is a safety aspect why 12 hours practices should be banned.
