The middle classes are unaware of the scale of government spending cuts that will hit them this year, Justice Secretary Ken Clarke has said.
Mr Clarke said the coalition should be prepared for political difficulty when Middle England feels the full impact.

So are you feeling it?
I believe we are here - as noted elsewhere £1k less net income as of April and of course inflation is eating away at spending power, essentials and fuel have increased in price considerably and continue to do so. In addition I received a rather concerning pension statement so will be having to reduce spending further in order to increase my contribution there.
Lastly need to increase the level of saving for things that we want to do in 2012 / 2013 so overall I believe our disposable income will probably drop by a full 75% or more over the course of the next 15 months, as that also takes account of loss of child benefit.
So in my case yes, we're staring into the hole and don't at all like what we're seeing, but it is what it is and would be worse under the alternatives.
You guys?
