Why would the BBC think it worthy of a story just because he's a Muslim?
he said himself people shake his hand because he's a Muslim.
one big drama because he's a Muslim in the British army. and today his assignment is to fight Muslim extremists.

are we surprised he's doing it? are we surprised he didn't refuse and his options are to go AWOL because he didn't want to do it?

it's an issue worthy of a story.
now if you were to have a few non muslim soldiers stating that they were a bit uneasy with him being a muslim, and they don't know whether they could trust him.
