The problem is that if we don't leave arresting people to the police we soon end up with vigilantes and respect for the law really then goes to the back burner.
We either respect the powers of the police or we get anarchy as righteous thugs take to the streets to 'administer' justice as they see fit.
If you want to be part of the system and arrest people then join the police and do your bit legitimately not decide you can do it better than the present law keepers do.
